Questions?

How long will this knife stay sharp?

It really depends on how often you use the knife, and what items you’re cutting. When tested in the rigors of a professional kitchen, the Misen knife outperformed brands that cost 30-50% more. However, no knife — including Misen’s — will stay sharp forever. When the blade starts to dull, we’ll have our expert sharpeners bring it back to its original glory for you, starting at $11/knife.

Does this knife require special care?

Misen high-end knives are extremely easy to care for. Avoid the dishwasher, wash and dry after use, and you’ll never have an issue with your knife.

What are your blades made from?

We craft our Chef’s Knife with premium Japanese AUS-10 high-carbon stainless steel for two main reasons. First, it’s a steel that offers an excellent balance between toughness, durability, and razor sharpness. Second, it has 2x the carbon content of some other “premium” brands, which helps the edge stay noticeably sharper for a longer time.

How can your knife be as good as other high-end knives if it costs so much less?

Most knives cost so much because of traditional retail markups and other fees. You’d be shocked to know how little many well-known “premium” knives actually cost to make. By partnering closely with our factories and selling directly to you online, we’re able to offer an incredible knife at wholesale pricing with absolutely zero markups. Better materials, lower price.

Does it make sense to buy one knife, and not a set?

The single most important tool in your kitchen is the chef’s knife — it’s the workhorse you reach for most often. Investing in one great knife now will change your cooking for life. We actually designed our chef’s knife to replace entire knife sets; with a 15º blade angle and hybrid Japanese/German design, this knife can do 99% of your kitchen cutting.

But if you’re interested in a set, we offer 3- and 5-piece sets including our other knives — including Paring, Serrated, Santoku, and Utility — in addition to the Chef’s Knife.

How does your warranty and trial work?

We’re 100% confident you’ll love your Misen knife. Confident enough to give you a 60-day in-home trial. If for any reason you’re not satisfied, just send it back for a full refund. All Misen knives come with a lifetime warranty against defects. We will replace any defective knives.

    Great for sourdough!

Bought this based on a recommendation to use with my sourdough loaves. I hate how some knives crush the bread. This knife works great!

10-Inch Red Bread Knife, Serrated

This 10" Serrated Knife in red is Misen’s longest serrated option for breads, cakes, and big fruits, built to give you clean, even slices without crushing soft interiors or tearing through crusts. The blade uses AICHI AUS-8 Japanese steel (HRC 58±2) with unique wave-style serrations, and it’s finished with a durable POM (polyoxymethylene) handle and an ergonomic sloped bolster for a natural, comfortable grip.

If you regularly bake boules, slice sheet cakes, or cut larger fruit, the longer 10" format helps you finish each cut with fewer sawing motions, which can mean neater slices and less mess on your board. Misen also calls out a balanced blade thickness, so it’s designed to handle both delicate slices and tougher crusts without feeling awkward in hand.

The red colorway is an aesthetic choice. It shares the same steel, wave-style serrations, and overall build as the other 10" color options, so your decision can come down to visibility and preference (for example, an easy-to-spot handle in a busy drawer). If you’re comparing shapes and styles beyond this knife, the serrated knives collection is the most direct place to see the full lineup.

For shoppers building a more complete kit, it can help to think about where this knife sits in your workflow: this is a single-purpose slicer that complements your everyday prep blade, rather than replacing it. If you want to round out your essentials, browsing Misen’s kitchen knives selection can help you match designs across the tools you reach for most.

Care is straightforward: hand wash, then dry immediately after use. Misen recommends sharpening every 4-6 months, and they also offer a mail-in sharpening option if you prefer not to handle maintenance yourself. Once it’s clean and dry, protect the long serrated edge with appropriate knife storage so the teeth stay ready for clean slicing over time.
